Crackers, Giggles and a Tree Decorated Again and Again: A Sibling Christmas Photoshoot in Meath
Some sessions just ‘click’ from the first minute, and Khloe and Theo’s Christmas photoshoot was one of them. They arrived in matching red, took one look at the studio set, and got straight down to the serious business of having fun.

Crackers first, posing later
We pulled a lot of crackers – far more than we had planned. Theo decided very quickly that the bang was the best part of the whole day, and every single pull brought the same belly laugh. Khloe was happy to play along, holding her end steady and waiting for her little brother to crack up all over again.
These are the photos I love most from the session, because nobody is posing. It is just a brother and sister having a magical time together, and that is exactly what a Christmas photo should feel like in my view.

A tree decorated more than once
Khloe took charge of the Christmas tree. She hung the baubles, took them down again, and hung them somewhere better, each time with great care. We decorated that tree a few times over and it gave me the opportunity to capture some portraits of her, with a little bit of Christmas twinkle in her stunning eyes.

Little moments around the set
Between crackers, there was plenty more to explore. The white rocking horse got a proper introduction and a very gentle pat on the nose. And one of my favourite frames from the day came from a simple gift bag, lit from inside, throwing a warm Christmas glow up onto Khloe’s face.

Why a sibling Christmas photoshoot is worth it
Children change so much between one Christmas and the next. A photo of your children together, laughing at the same silly joke, is the kind of picture that means more with every year that passes. It is also the one that ends up framed on the wall or sent to grandparents in the Christmas card.

My sessions are relaxed and led by the children. If they want to pull crackers for ten minutes, we pull crackers. If they want to redecorate the tree, we redecorate the tree. The natural smiles come from that, not from asking anyone to say cheese.
