Fine Art Portraits Photography That Captures Light, Tone, and Emotion

My Portrait sessions are about creating something you’ll treasure for years: emotive, expressive portraits that will make you smile every time you look at them.

Whether in the calm glow of window light or the sculpted tones of the studio, every image is designed to reflect individuality, not perfection.

Black & White Close-up Portrait

I think there’s something timeless about black and white portraits. They strip everything back to emotion and light. Amy was amazing to work with here, and I love her soft and natural her expression.

Window Light Fine Art Portrait

I adore working with natural window light, it wraps so beautifully around the subject. This portrait of Amy feels serene and graceful, with that little hint of daydream in the moment.

Atmospheric Portrait

I love the atmosphere in this portrait. The soft fog and directional lighting created a gentle, cinematic haze that perfectly complements Amy’s beautiful blue eyes. It’s moody yet calm, with just the right balance of drama and elegance.

🐾  The perfect Ending

I wanted to end this Fine Art Portraits series with something that means a lot to Amy. With her beautiful smile and her love for her dog, Koby, this moment says it all. Koby giving Amy a little hi-five. It’s such a genuine, happy snapshot of the bond they share and the perfect way to close the collection. Koby is an ever willing model, and the best photo-buddy Amy could ask for.

Creating fine art portraits is a real passion of mine! Playing with light, catching those natural expressions, and inspiring real emotions, all play a huge part in helping me tell a story in every portrait. I’m lucky to share that passion for photography with my brother, Darren Byrne of DB Photos, whose award-winning wedding and portrait work has always inspired me. We regularly collaborate and try out new methods and set-ups.

For clients preparing for their session, I always recommend Amy’s Beauty Aesthetics. Her stunning makeup and nail artistry help my clients feel polished and camera-ready, ensuring every portrait feels beautiful and effortless.

Fine Art Portrait Photography – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a Fine Art Portrait?

2. How should I prepare for my Fine Art Portrait session?

Bring outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Classic or neutral tones work best for this style, but we can discuss ideas beforehand. I also recommend avoiding busy patterns and logos so the focus stays on you and the emotion of the image.

Yes, absolutely. Many families choose Fine Art sessions for elegant family or sibling portraits, and I’m very happy to include pets too. The session will be tailored so everyone looks relaxed and natur

4. Where do Fine Art Portrait sessions take place?

Sessions take place in my fully equipped photography studio in the Meath countryside, just outside Kilcock — about 30 minutes from Dublin. Or, I can take shoots on location if prefer a natural backdrop – check out a recent fantasy equine portrait shoot I did in Wales.

5. How long does the session take and what’s included?

A typical Fine Art session lasts around 60–90 minutes, but it really depends on your imagination!!. You’ll receive a private online gallery to view your images, which will be professionally edited, with high-resolution files provided for print and web use.

6. Can I order prints or wall art from my Fine Art session?

Yes. I offer a range of premium prints, framed pieces, and canvas options. You can order directly from your online gallery, or I can help you design the perfect wall display. I have several types on display here in my studio, so they can be helpful in choosing what is right for you.
