Professional Headshots & Portraits Near Dublin — Ross’s Studio Session

Ross came to my studio in the Meath countryside, just outside Dublin, for a professional headshot and portrait session — the kind of images you’d actually want on a company profile, your website, or anywhere you need to look your professional best. He’s a medical engineer, and like a lot of people, he wanted photos that looked polished and credible without feeling stiff or overly corporate.

A relaxed, guided headshot session

Most people tell me they feel a little awkward in front of the camera, and Ross was no different at the start — that’s completely normal, and it’s exactly what the session is built around. There’s a quick chat first, then plenty of relaxed direction so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands or how to stand.
Ross was a gentleman to photograph, and by the end he was genuinely enjoying it — which is usually when the best, most natural images happen. We worked through a range of looks too, from a confident arms-crossed frame to a few warmer, smiling ones, so he’d have options for different uses.

Why a good professional headshot matters

Your headshot is often the first impression a colleague, client or recruiter gets of you — on a company “meet the team” page, at a conference, or in a tender document. A clear, natural professional headshot signals that you’re credible and approachable, which is a hard balance to strike with a quick phone selfie.

That’s the whole point of a studio session: good lighting, a clean background, and enough time to get a few genuinely strong frames you’ll be happy to use everywhere.

Forever the professional..

There’s even one of Ross checking his watch. Officially it was just a pose — but I think the ever-professional in him was quietly keeping me on schedule and on my toes.

Professional headshots and portraits

that work everywhere…

A strong, current photo makes your professional profile feel trustworthy and up to date, and it carries across to your email signature, your bio on company sites, and any speaking or industry profiles.

For Ross, the aim was a consistent, professional image he could use right across his working life.

Frequently Asked Questions about Headshots

I find having my photo taken really awkward — can you still help?

Absolutely — most people who come to me say exactly that, and it’s what my whole approach is built around. Every session is relaxed, friendly and fully guided, so you’re never left wondering what to do with your hands or how to stand. Most people are surprised by how quickly they settle in, and many leave having genuinely enjoyed it.

How do I book a headshot session near Dublin?

The easiest way is to message me on WhatsApp and tell me a little about what you need — I’ll talk you through your options and we’ll find a date that suits. My studio is in the Meath countryside just outside Kilcock, about 30 minutes from Dublin, with easy access and free parking.

How much does a professional headshot session cost?

Professional headshot sessions start from €250, which includes a relaxed, guided studio session and a private online gallery to choose your favourites from. The exact cost depends on how many final edited images you’d like and whether it’s for one person or a team. The easiest thing is to message me on WhatsApp with what you need and I’ll give you a price specific to your requirments.

How many headshots will I get, and how do I choose?

After your session I create a private online gallery of your best frames, and you pick your favourites from there — so you’re never stuck with images you don’t love. The number of final edited photos depends on the option you choose, but for most professional use a few strong, versatile shots is plenty.

How soon will I get my photos?

Your private gallery is usually ready within 2 weeks of the session. If you’re working to a deadline, let me know when you book and I’ll do my best to prioritise it.

What should I wear for a professional headshot?

Solid, well-fitting colours usually work best — they keep the focus on you rather than on busy patterns. A jacket or a smart layer adds a polished, professional feel, and it’s worth bringing a couple of options so we can see what works best on camera. If you’re unsure, bring a few things and we’ll decide together on the day. I highly recommend making sure shirts or blouses are ironed, and any jackets or jumpers are ‘fluff’ free.
